This block idea was on agenda for a very long time. I wanted to make it quick and easy. But sometimes what you need is to slow down… When I used machine to make it from start to finish, what I was getting was so far away from my vision, that I put down this idea back to WIP box for months before trying again. Finally, it came to me: slow and steady wins the design! And here are my splats, exactly as I imagined them. You can use crumbs as I did, but you can also showcase some rare fabrics in your collection. There are many layouts to put these blocks into as well. Check my latest YouTube tutorial and see what you can make from splats! Happy sewing.

It is easy to make last minute quilt or table runner if you have your scraps ready for sewing. For me, that is the main advantage of following magic numbers principle when dealing with all sorts of scraps from other projects or if I am prepping recycled fabrics. It took me 15 minutes from start to finish to prepare 3 Candle Light blocks for a table runner I will be using during Christmas. Blocks are large, so if you decide you would like to make it into quilt, it will be done in no time.

Happy sewing!

If it’s a large block, it makes a quick quilt or a backing of a quilt. If it is made from your own magic number pre cuts, it takes only 5 min to make one block. Win win. With this Wonky Checkers block design, you can make upcycled shirts, crumbs and any other mix of scraps stand out for a nicely balanced quilt. Either way it will be quick and awesome. Happy sewing!
